Events in Devon during September reflect the autumnal nature of the season. Autumn is a beautiful time full of colourful leaves and the fruits of the harvest. Still holiday time or a late season break.

Clovelly a beautiful ancient town famous for its steep cobbled High Street. It is on the Bristol Channel coast. Lots of listed buildings. The gardens and part of Clovelly Manor are open to the public, but not the house which is privately owned.
Widdicombe, home of Widdecombe Fair. Remember the song? Is the song fact or fiction? More than likely fact or at least the people existed. Widdecombe and District Local History Group have conducted research that reveals that Tom Cobley was a real person and all the surnames are steeped in Devon history.
The town is in the Dartmoor National Park and correctly called Widdicombe in the Moor. There is a National Trust shop in the village. There is a very large church for the size of the place which is known as the Cathedral of the Moor. There are stories of ghosts, the official website discounts this, but..........
Torquay a delightful seaside resort in the English Riviera on Devon's south coast. Agatha Christie was born in the town. Many attractions in the area. Wonderful beaches, two are Blue Flag.
Newton Abbot is a bustling market town in the Teign Estuary. Bradley Manor, above, a National Trust property, is open to the public. The town is nice and central for the English Riviera and Dartmoor National Park
Budleigh Salterton, a charming town and in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On the South West Coastal Path. A pretty pebble beach which is two miles long. Explore Budleigh Salterton with the 3 mile circular walk.
Sidmouth a tourist resort on the channel coast in South Devon. One of the gateways to the Jurassic Coast. It is a popular town for retirees!!! Not surprising, it is such a pleasant place. There are beautiful beaches and plenty of attractions.
