Events in Wiltshire in September. Autumn colours are slowly coming into vogue. Why not go walking, cycling or riding, events for all of these here. Perhaps you would rather do your own thing. Wiltshire is rich in footpaths, cycling paths and horse riding trails. Walkers - Tried the Orange Way? That is a long one, but you could do it in day size bits. Or you could go racing or maybe attend a festival. Mere has a carnival.

Chippenham is in the north of the county not too far from the county boundary. A bustling market town with the old and new combining to make it a pleasant place to be. Plenty of shopping with lively High Street markets on Friday and Saturday. The town is proud of its parks.
Salisbury Racecourse at Netherhampton not far from Salisbury. A very attractive course for flat racing. Makes for a pleasant afternoon or evening.
Salisbury Cathedral, what a lovely cathedral, an icon. The spire ascends to dizzy heights above the city. The stone decoration on the Cathedral are so beautiful and sometimes weird. A copy of the Magna Carta is kept on display.
Stonehenge to Avebury Path, part of the The Great Stones Way. 26 miles through prehistory. Flora and fauna abound. Not an easy walk but very interesting indeed,
Devizes is in the centre of the county and a great base for touring Wiltshire. It is an attractive, historic market town. If you see a brewer's dray pulled by shire horses, they belong to Wadworth's brewery in the town. Wander along the cobbled alleys.
Mere a small town tucked away on the Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset borders. It is a lovely historic place, it was a market town but they are not held now. There was a castle at one time on top of Castle Hill, but fell into disrepair long ago. It is said that some of the buildings of the town contain stones that were originally part of the Castle.
Calne has plenty of walks, antique shops, historic buildings including coaching inns as the town was on the main London to Bristol road.
